Continue your education and hone your skills

Golf is a game of continual learning. This holds true for everyone from total beginners to pros. We have multiple options for you to keep learning and improve your skills after receiving your Green Card.

Private lessons

Private lessons are for you to get individualized education from one of our teachers in an area of your choosing. The bookings are done via email, phone or their own booking systems. The information can be found written in Finnish on our website and our caddiemasters will be happy to help you with any questions you may have.

Supervised Big 9

We understand that going to the course for the first time might feel daunting. This is why we offer supervised rounds for those who are new to the game. The focus on these rounds is mainly etiquette, rules and playing speed. The supervised rounds are held on Friday evenings starting at the beginning of May. The supervised rounds are also sometimes held during the day on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The Green Fee for these rounds is 35 € per person and it includes clubs, if you don’t have them yet. Bookings for the supervised rounds are done through the caddiemaster.

Join a club and start lowering your handicap

In Finland golf courses and clubs go hand in hand and are the foundation of Finnish golf. As you continue to play you will see that a club membership is necessary to play in Finland as most courses in Finland will not let you play without one. This is for a few reasons, of which the most important one is that as a member you have a golf insurance through the Finnish Golf union. HIFK Golf ry is the club that operates at Paloheinä Golf. As a member you have access to Paloheinäs Evergreen (par 3), our training area and putting green for free all through the season, access to club activities and competitions and you can also pay a right to play for Paloheinäs Big 9.

HIFK Golf membership is 69 € for adults and 50 € for juniors. The membership is valid for the 2023 season, ending in march of 2025. You can apply for membership here or with our caddiemaster, the application will be processed within 2-3 business days.

What to do in Paloheinä?

As we mentioned before most golf courses require a membership to play. Paloheinä is one of the exceptions to this rule as we are an everyman’s right course. This means you can play with us as long as one person for your tee time has a Green Card. You also don’t have to make large investments yet, as you get to play our Evergreen and rent clubs free of charge for a month!

Range

During the Green Card course you got to try out most of our facilities, one of the most used one being the range. At the range you can train specific shots on your own time and speed. Our range has multiple different targets, which will help you train your aim and distance.

Evergreen

Evergreen is one of the largest Northern European Par 3 courses and offers versatile challenges for beginners. The course has five holes and nine fairways, as the name suggests the ideal stroke count for each fairway is 3. You do not have to book a tee time for Evergreen and it is conveniently located between the range and parking lot.

Big 9

Once you have a membership to a golf club and are ready to drop your handicap (HCP) you should definitely play our big 9. The course is a full lenght course and as the name suggests it has nine holes on the edge of Helsinki’s central park.

Our tee times are 10 minutes apart with a maximum of four players in each flight and a combined HCP of 160. Nine holes for adults is 28 € and juniors (>21) 16 €. You can book your slot from TeeTime or through our caddiemaster.

Going to the course for the first time might feel a bit daunting, but there is no need to be nervous about it. Our regulars are very used to mingling with new players and playing with them will be an excellent way to learn etiquette and proper playing speed. If you are still nervous about going to the course we recommend joining our supervised rounds, which we introduced earlier.
